Hey everyone,
I've decided to run the Berlin Marathon in 2017.
Why? How? Really?
Well, while sitting in an Irish pub with a few friends after last year's marathon, we lazily declared how do-able it would be to complete with a bit of training. Fast forward a couple days, and we commited to calling our bluff and attempt it afterall. I have never run any organized race of more than 10k and personally am not a fan of running (when there's not a ball involved), so this ought to be quite the challenge.
Since running 42km only to say "told you so" to some friends would be ridiculous, I have have also committed to raise money and run on behalf of World Vision Deutschland. They are a global relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Hi everyone,
First off, I would like to say a big thank you / vielen dank / merci beaucoup to you all for your donations that not only allowed me to participate in the Berlin Marathon this year, but also raised more than €1000 for water infrastructure proejcts in Sierra Leone! I am more than grateful for all of your support and proud of the amount raised that will be sent to this great cause.
Second, as you may already know, the marathon was this past Sunday and if you're curious to know: Well, I did indeed survive. My final recorded time was 4:51:15, which is more than fine by me!
